Gloria Ann Guzman, 65, of Austin passed away peacefully on December 25th surrounded by her family after a difficult battle with cancer. Gloria was born in Austin, Texas, graduated from Austin High School, and attended college at Southwest Texas University.
She is preceded in death by her father Alfonso Candelas, her mother Lupe Huerta Candelas, and her sister Mary Lupe Saucedo. She is survived by her husband James Guzman, daughter Tiffany Ledesma, and her son Cisco Guzman.
Gloria was a realtor who never met a stranger, but most importantly she was an undercover social worker at heart who always helped those in need. When Gloria beat cancer the first time, she got involved with Live Strong and her cancer support group in order to be there for those going through the same difficult battle.
Along with helping others, Gloria loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed Sunday breakfasts, traveling, going to movies with her nieces, playing with her nephew, and attending dances and concerts with her group of close friends.

My deepest sympathy to each of you. No matter how many times we lose someone whom we love it never lessen the pain. Unlike the birth of a child, we do not rejoice over the loss of family and friends. Our heavenly Father assures us that he will soon wipe away the tears of sorrow from our eyes forever and death will be no more.
Revelation 21:3-5

I am deeply saddened by Gloria’s passing. When I moved to Texas over 40 years ago, she was my best friend and hosted a baby shower for me in Conroe. She was a devoted mother to Tiffany and Cisco and husband, James. My condolences got out to you.

I’m so sorry for your loss of your wife and mother. Losing a loved one is one of the most difficult experiences a family will face. The grief experienced at times may seem unbearable. May the many hugs, caring thoughts and prayers be a source of comfort and may the God of tender mercies comfort you at this time, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4.

To the Guzman family with my sincere condolences. May you find comfort from the promise by Christ Jesus that there is going to be a resurrection of those that have fallen asleep in death.(John 5:28,29) When Jesus was on earth he performed many miracles including the resurrection of his friend Lazarus.(John 11:11,43) Under God’s Kingdom, Christ Jesus will raise our loved ones on a global scale to live on a paradise earth. That was God’s original purpose for mankind in the first place.(Psalms 37:10,11,37). What a beautiful future, and to see Gloria again!

I wanted to express my condolence and share some comfort and hope from God’s word, the Bible. Isaiah 25:8 promises that God will wipe away tears from all faces because a time is coming when he will do away with death forever. (Revelation 21:3,4) His word also assures us that sickness and wickedness will be removed from the earth. (Isaiah 33:24; Psalm 37:10,11) Another promise is that all those “sleeping in death” will be brought back to life. (1 Thessalonians 4:13; John 5:28,29; Isaiah 26:19) What a wonderful hope we have of being able to welcome back our loved ones who have died to perfect health and conditions forever!
Until that time comes, our loving, heavenly Father assures us at Psalm 34:18 that he is “close to the brokenhearted” and verse 15 says that “he listens to our cry for help.” So rest-assured that he understands your pain and grief and is eager to help you by giving you the strength you need to cope with your loss. (Philippians 4:13)
I hope these scriptures will provide some comfort. If you’d like to discuss more, feel free to contact me. I have a brochure called, “When Someone You Love Dies” that helped me deal with my grief when I lost my mom. I’d be glad to send you a copy.
Sincerely,
Lisa (littlelisa76@gmail.com)
