Julia Loera Flores, born January 9, 1932 and passed away January 29, 2017. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018. Funeral mass will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018 at San Jose Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Flores Jr., Julia’s parents, Jose Loera and Emilia Sosa Loera, sisters, Concepcion Loera Reyna, Mary Sue Loera Regalado, and grandchild, Leslie S. Flores. She is survived by son, Vincent Lee Flores, Wife – Barbara Borden Flores, daughters, Roseann Flores Roberts, Husband – Christopher Roberts, Sandra J. Flores Maldanado, Husband – David Maldanado, grandchildren, Theresa Flores, Sofia Flores, Raquel Roberts, Brianna Camacho (Isaac), Vincent Roberts, Alex Maldanado, great-grandchild, Ezra Vincent Camacho, and a brother, Manuel Loera. Julia was a native South Austinite, who had an absolute zest for life and love for music and dance. She was a popular singer at the Jamaicas at San Jose Catholic church, she also sang on the local Spanish radio station in the 1940s. Mr. Steve Rocha, 74, of Austin, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017. Recitation of the holy rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Mr. Rocha was preceded in death by his wife, Adelia Rocha, parents, Estephan and Carmen Rocha, brother, Ray Rocha, and sister, Nena Zapata. He is survived by his children, Michael Rocha, and wife, Geneva, Tracy Rocha and spouce, Benito Rodriguez, Johnny Rocha, and wife Jessica, Terry Rocha, and wife, Veronica, Casey Rocha and wife, Jenny, Justin Horn, and wife, Veronica, sisters, Amelia Rocha, and Adela Colwell, brother, Leo Rocha, 29 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Gloria Ann Guzman, 65, of Austin passed away peacefully on December 25th surrounded by her family after a difficult battle with cancer. Gloria was born in Austin, Texas, graduated from Austin High School, and attended college at Southwest Texas University. She is preceded in death by her father Alfonso Candelas, her mother Lupe Huerta Candelas, and her sister Mary Lupe Saucedo. She is survived by her husband James Guzman, daughter Tiffany Ledesma, and her son Cisco Guzman. Gloria was a realtor who never met a stranger, but most importantly she was an undercover social worker at heart who always helped those in need. When Gloria beat cancer the first time, she got involved with Live Strong and her cancer support group in order to be there for those going through the same difficult battle. Along with helping others, Gloria loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed Sunday breakfasts, traveling, going to movies with her nieces, playing with her nephew, and attending dances and concerts with her group of close friends.
