Patricia Jean Amidon, 69, died of natural causes on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 in Buda, Texas. She was born on January 11, 1948, in Austin, Texas to Grace Meredith. June 27, 1964, she married Clyde Amidon. They tried for years to have a child and while she patiently waited, she was an incredible aunt to her nieces and nephews. The day she had dreamed of, finally came after 10 years and together she and Clyde raised their son Michael and their twins, Jennifer and Jeffrey. Although, Pat worked outside of the home, mother was the job title she cherished the most. Her promotion to Maw Maw was by far the most pleasing role of her lifetime. She knew how important it was to be a constant presence in her children’s life, so she made her home open and welcoming to all the neighborhood friends. The house always smelled of home cooked meals and there was always plenty for whomever happened to still be hanging out a dinner time. I know for a fact, many stayed a little later than they should have, because they smelled the aroma coming from the kitchen. There were no twisted arms when she insisted they get a plate and help themselves. She was the finest, make shift cab driver in town. Thankfully seatbelt laws were not in existence, because she would pack us in and deliver us to the skating rink, the ball field, practices, swimming pool, the mall, wherever we wanted to be, whenever we wanted to go. She knew all the short cuts, the houses with the best Christmas lights and the streets with speed bumps. She would go around the block as many times as you asked and fly over the speed bumps, just to hear you laugh and say you felt butterflies in your tummy. I only name her birth children in this tribute, but the truth is, she was a mom to so many over the years. I can see her chuckling at the shenanigans she witnessed and retold over and over and the joy in her eyes as she honored the amazing accomplishments of her talented grandchildren.
Pat is proceeded in death by her brother, Joe Morrison and her mother, Grace Morrison. She is survived by her husband, Clyde Amidon; her children, Michael and Jeffrey Amidon and Jennifer Alvarez; her daughter in-law, Shelley Amidon and son in law, Everett Alvarez; her grandchildren, Ashton and Aidon Alvarez and Hunter and Rylee Amidon; her sisters, Judy Hess, Linda Smith, Cathy Molinaro and Cindy Morrison; her brothers Gerald Morrison and Bobby Morrison.
Pat’s legacy is one of fierce love, belly laughs and devotion to family (blood or otherwise). She knew these things made her rich beyond measure and I know she brought abundance in all the hearts she touched. Come join us on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 2:00 for her memorial. It will be held at the clubhouse of the Creekside Villas Senior Village, located 590 FM 967, Buda, Texas 78610.

Mike, Shelly, and Family,
Words cannot express how very sorry I am to hear about the passing of your mother. As we prayed last night, my mother was telling Boobie and I how much she and my dad appreciated your parents’ support when you played football, she told us that your parents were the always the first one’s to volunteer or do whatever was necessary to help out the team and how kind they were. And you Mike, have always held a special place in their hearts (especially my dad), he was so happy that after many years, you were “part of the family” and he got to see the fine man you grew into, which is of course a tribute to both your mom and your dad. I have no doubt that as your mom was welcomed by her loved ones that had passed before her, my dad was also there, waiting to greet her with a warm smile and a big hug.
My thoughts and prayers are with you now and always.
Love,
Andrea Estrada Jakobeit
